When it comes to clothing ‘green' is the new ‘black' and if you want to help the environment, what you wear is just as important as what you eat.
Most high street stores selling low cost ‘fast fashion' are the clothing equivalent of multinational fast food chains, mass produced, hassle-free, fast, popular and reliant on exploitation and environmentally damaging practices down the supply chain to keep things that way.
However, wearing ethical clothing doesn't mean you can't be fashionable too. There's been a huge growth in designers and outlets selling high quality fashion staples and the latest trends, made with fabrics that are less harmful to the environment, and by workers who earn a living wage.
Hastings Ethical Fashion Show showcased the best in ethical fashion, both locally and nationally, including fairtrade clothing, organic cotton and hemp, recycled clothes, hand-made designs, and second-hand and vintage items.
This included outfits from:

Gossypium, Claire Bartlett, Sarah Hartman, Maika Crampton, Conscious Clothing, Jiva Trading, Traid, the Source, the Lilac Room, the Wardrobe, Ekta Jain, Tam & Rob, and Patagonia.
