Hastings Environment Network has just launched a small grants scheme to support other environmental groups working in Hastings and St Leonards. Specifically we hope to fund projects that aim to increase awareness of environmental issues, to enhance the local environment, or to help local environmental groups to increase their membership and encourage more local people to take part in their activities. The grant could be used for a wide range of different projects or activities for example the funding could be used to cover:

• design and print costs for educational, promotional, or awareness raising materials e.g. newsletters, posters or leaflets;
• venue hire or travel costs for specific events, visits to other projects or local farms, or seminars or conferences;
• capital costs e.g. to buy equipment to carry out conservation work, or seeds and compost for a gardening project.

The maximum grant is £250 and the closing date for applications is 31 March 2008.
